Women's Basketball: Mount Union Travels to Marietta Wednesday

ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's basketball team travels to Marietta in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday, January 20 at 7:30 p.m.  

What: Mount Union (11-4, 5-3 OAC) vs. Marietta (9-6, 3-5 OAC)

When: Wednesday, January 20– 7:30 p.m.

Game Preview: Mount Union is coming off a 90-83 loss against John Carroll Saturday.

Katie Reed (Alliance/Marlington) had a career-high 30 points and Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) had 15 as the Purple Raiders fell to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in the OAC.

Bova leads the team and is second in the OAC with 19.7 ppg. Abby Wemhoff (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) leads the team in rebounds with a total of 90 and averages 6.0 per game.

Marietta is coming off an 86-63 loss to Otterbein Saturday. Amisha Herd led Marietta with nine points.

Coaches: Suzy Venet is in her 10th season as head women's basketball coach at Mount Union. Since taking over as coach, she has brought the Raiders three OAC Tournament titles, two OAC regular season titles and three-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament including making it to the Sweet 16 in 2010 and 2012.  Venet was named the OAC Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year by both the WBCA and D3Hoops.com in 2010 and 2012.

Stacia Shrider begins her fourth season as the head basketball coach at Marietta College in 2015-16. Shrider has led the Pioneers to a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament appearances in her three seasons at the helm. Shrider became the 12th coach to lead the women's basketball team at Marietta in the 39 years of the program in 2012-13. She had served as the assistant coach for the Pioneers during the 2010-2011 and 2011-12 seasons.
