Women's Basketball: Raiders Host Muskingum Monday

ALLIANCE, Ohio- Mount Union's women's basketball team will host Muskingum in an Ohio Athletic Conference game at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex Monday, Feb. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

What: Mount Union (16-6, 10-5 OAC) vs. Muskingum (5-17, 1-14 OAC)

Game Preview: Mount Union is coming off a 72-63 win against Heidelberg Saturday afternoon.

Katie Reed (Alliance/Marlington) had 20 points while Annie Bova (Parma Heights/Beaumont) had 19 points to lead the Purple Raiders, who now 16-6 overall and 10-5 in the OAC.

Bova leads the team and is second in the OAC with 19.2 ppg. Abby Wemhoff (Kent/Kent Roosevelt) leads the team in rebounds with a total of 134 and averages 6.1 per game.

Muskingum is coming off a 68-53 loss against No. 11 Ohio Northern, Saturday. Mallory Taylor led the team with a game-high 17 points. 

Earlier This Season: Mount Union defeated Muskingum 64-61 in an Ohio Athletic Conference battle, Jan. 13. The Raiders were led by Bova with 20 points and Reed added 16 points and seven rebounds. The Muskies led going into the half while the second half consisted of nine lead changes and five ties. The Raiders would finish the game on an 11-2 run for the win.

Coaches: Suzy Venet is in her 10th season as head women's basketball coach at Mount Union. Since taking over as coach, she has brought the Raiders three OAC Tournament titles, two OAC regular season titles and three-straight trips to the NCAA Tournament including making it to the Sweet 16 in 2010 and 2012.  Venet was named the OAC Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year by both the WBCA and D3Hoops.com in 2010 and 2012.

Beth Fox is entering her tenth year as the head coach of the Muskingum women's basketball program. Fox the 2008-09 Ohio Athletic Conference Coach of the Year has directed the team to its highest league finish since the 1996-97 season and took the squad to the OAC Tournament Final Four during her tenure. She coached both Jessica McKenzie and Tiffany Youel to First Team All-OAC, which marked the first time that Muskingum had placed two players on the First Team squad since 1989 when Julia Hoag and Kathy Lee both received the recognition.
