ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union junior center Erin White (West Chester/Lakota East) recorded a career-high 23 points to lift the Purple Raiders to an 83-68 Ohio Athletic Conference win over Heidelberg Tuesday afternoon.

Along with White, sophomore forward Jaime Sanborn (Twinsburg/Twinsburg) had 16 points as the Raiders out-scored Heidelberg in the paint, 44-16.

Sophomore guard Anna Alkire (Massillon/Jackson) had 14 points, six of which came in a key fourth quarter run as the Raiders are now 5-4 overall and 2-2 in the OAC.

Heidelberg's (3-7, 1-3 OAC) Kate Brickner led the Student Princes with four three-pointers and 14 points.

Mount Union jumped out to a 28-10 first quarter lead on the strength of eight points, all on layups from White.

The Raiders pushed the lead to 20 points early in the second quarter before a Heidelberg rally that included four straight three-pointers from Brickner. Mount Union held onto a 38-32 lead at halftime.

Heidelberg stayed close, getting within three points of the Raiders, 55-52, at the end of the third quarter. The Student Princes tied the game on their first possession of the fourth quarter from a three by Aianna Wilson.

Alkire then scored six straight points over a span of 26 seconds to spark a decisive 10-0 Mount Union run that put the Raiders up for good.

Mount Union next travels to Springfield, Ohio for the Wittenberg University Tournament Dec. 29 and 30. The Raiders play Brescia (Ky.) on Thursday at noon and Friday against either Wittenberg or Mt. St. Joseph at a time to be determined.
