ADA, Ohio - Mount Union women's basketball team lost 59-43 at No. 10 ranked Ohio Northern Saturday in Ada.
Rachel Tinkey (Canfield) had game-high 20 points as the Purple Raiders win streak was stopped at two games. Mount Union is now 8-9 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
Northern, now 16-1 overall and 10-0 in the OAC, was led by Amy Bullimore, who had 14 points.
Tinkey hit three straight baskets to give the Raiders a 6-2 with 6:44 left in the first quarter but Ohio Northern finished the quarter on a 9-0 run to lead 11-6.
It ended up being a 14-0 run over two quarters for Northern as it scored the first five points of the second quarter to push the lead to 16-6. Mount Union would outscore the Polar Bears 12-10 the rest of the quarter to trail 26-18 at halftime.
Seven consecutive points by Ohio Northern to start the third quarter took the lead out to 15 points, 33-18. Mount Union would get no closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
The Raiders return home to host John Carroll next Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at The MAAC.
