Women's Basketball: Tinkey, Morrissette and Sanborn Named to All-OAC Teams

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's basketball team has three players named to the 2017-18 All-Ohio Athletic Conference teams, all with first-time honors.

Junior guard Rachel Tinkey (Canfield/Canfield) represents the Purple Raiders on the Second Team, while senior guard Casey Morrissette (Wakeman/Firelands) and junior forward Jaime Sanborn (Twinsburg/Twinsburg) receive Honorable Mention. 

Tinkey played in 25 games, making 24 starts this season as she led the team in scoring averaging 13.6 points a game. She was also strong on the boards this season as she averaged 5.4 rebounds a game after recording three double-doubles.

Morrissette played and started all games in her final season as a Purple Raider. She averaged 10.5 points and 2.7 assists a game as she was second on the team in both categories. Morrissette also led the team in steals with 32 on the year with a career-high four against against Heidelberg (12/16/17).

Sanborn led the team in rebounds this season with 139 total, 5.8 per game. Starting and playing in 24 games, Sanborn recorded a career-high 16 rebounds in her double-double against Capital (1/13/18). With 266 points coming off of 54.4% shooting, Sanborn is third in the conference in field goal percentage. 

The Purple Raiders entered the OAC Tournament seeded third overall before suffering a 65-60 loss to Capital, ultimately ending the Raiders' season. Mount Union closed its season 15-11 overall and 12-6 in the OAC.
