AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union guard Rachel Tinkey (Canfield) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week (11/26).
The senior receives her first player of the week selection after she led the Purple Raiders in scoring in their back-to-back victories against Ohio Wesleyan (87-62) and Kenyon (56-39).
Against Ohio Wesleyan, Tinkey scored 19 points to shoot 42.9% from the field and 66.7% from behind the arc. She also went three-for-three from the foul line.
Against Kenyon, Tinkey recorded a season-best 26 points for another 42.9 field goal percentage and was perfect from the line in seven free throw attempts. Tinkey also grabbed a season-high of eight rebounds.
For the season, Tinkey is shooting 36.8% from the field, 36.4% from three and 100% from the line to average 15.5 points a game.
Mount Union has now won four straight to remain undefeated and next hosts Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) Wednesday, November 28 at 7:00 p.m. before beginning OAC action.
