Women's Basketball: Raiders Pick Up Road Win at Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio – Mount Union women's basketball team beat Heidelberg 62-46 in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Saturday in Tiffin.

Tori Rappach (Warren / Howland) had a game-high 14 points with four three-pointers and Rachel Tinkey (Canfield) had 11 points as the Purple Raiders are now 17-6 overall and 10-6 in the OAC.

Maddy Crawford had nine points to lead Heidelberg (9-14, 5-11 OAC).

Mount Union jumped out to an 18-8 lead in the first quarter with Rappach hitting a pair of three pointers and led 18-10 at the end of the period.

Heidelberg scored seven-straight points to start the second quarter to close the gap to 18-17, but Mount Union came back with six points in a row – four by Elena Rauhe (Seven Hills / Parma Padua) to retake control. The Raiders eventually took a 30-21 lead into the half.

Mount Union opened the second half on an 8-1 run to push the lead to 16 points, 39-23, on a Tinkey layup with 6:33 left in the third quarter. The Raiders pushed the lead to as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter before the 16-point final.

Mount Union returns home to host Baldwin Wallace in an OAC matchup and the final regular season home game of the season Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
