ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's basketball team fell to Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Baldwin Wallace, 74-68, Wednesday night at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

The Purple Raiders (17-7, 10-7 OAC) had four players land in double figures with junior guard Tori Rappach (Warren/Howland) ahead of the group with 15 points. Rappach hit five three-pointers in the game, pushing her season total to 92, making her the new single-season record holder for three pointers made at both Mount Union and in the OAC.

Elena Rauhe (Seven Hills/Padua Franciscan) was next in line as she came off the bench to score 13 points and grab 11 rebounds for her first career double-double. Jaime Sanborn (Twinsburg) and Sarah Hessel (Avon Lake) wrapped up the scoring column for the Raiders with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Baldwin Wallace improves to 18-6 overall and 12-5 in the OAC as Lilly Edwards and Rachel Womeldorf each scored 12 points and combined for 18 rebounds.

Sanborn secured Mount Union's first bucket for a 2-0 start to the first quarter. Baldwin Wallace responded with an 8-0 run for an 8-2 lead at the seven-minute mark. The Raiders came back to tie at 10-10 on a pair of three's from Rauhe and Rappach, but the duo of Edwards and Womeldorf fueled a 9-5 run in favor of the Yellow Jackets to close out the quarter with the lead, 19-15.

Baldwin Wallace upped their advantage to eight points at 28-20 with 5:53 to play, giving them their largest lead of the half. Chipping away, Mount Union was within a point, 31-30, after a famous Rappach-three with a minute and a half to go. In the final two possession, Rauhe was able to strip the ball from a Baldwin Wallace guard for a fast break layup and then nail a shot from behind the arc to give her a personal 5-0 run and claim the lead for the Raiders at halftime, 35-33.

Four quick points from Sanborn to open the third quarter maintained Mount Union's slim lead over Baldwin Wallace through the first two minutes of play. A three by Baldwin Wallace's MacKenzi Matthews put the Jackets back on top at 41-40 with 6:26 still to go. Mount Union would match and then reclaim the lead after a pair of free throws from Rauhe, but Baldwin Wallace's offense was tough to slow down as they won the quarter, 22-14, to take a 55-49 lead heading into the fourth.

The two teams went point-for-point through six minutes of action until back-to-back layups from Hessel, followed by a three from Rappach, trimmed Baldwin Wallace's three to 67-64 with 3:10 on the clock. Next trip down the floor for the Raiders, Hessel makes a strong move inside for the bucket to trail by one, 67-66, with under two minutes. Baldwin Wallace's Megan Hensel answers with a three, just beating out the shot clock, to push the Jackets ahead at 70-66. Following possession, Hessel spins past the defense for the score with 24 seconds remaining; Mount Union down, 70-68. With Mount Union pressing the offense, Anna Alkire (Massillon/Jackson) shoots the gap for the steal and gets the ball back for the Raiders with under 20 seconds to play. Mount Union ultimately could not get the right shots to fall in the final seconds and was forced to foul as Baldwin Wallace sealed the win, 74-68.

For the final game of the regular season, Mount Union plays at Capital for an OAC matchup Saturday, February 16 at 3 p.m. at The Capital Center.
