Women's Basketball: Mount Union Picked 6th in OAC Coaches Poll

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's basketball team was picked sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll announced Tuesday.

The Purple Raiders had 39 points in the poll which placed them two points ahead of seventh place Wilmington. Baldwin Wallace tops the poll with six first place votes, John Carroll had the other four first place votes in second while Capital, Marietta and Ohio Northern round out the top five.

Mount Union went 17-9 overall and 10-8 in the OAC a year ago and the Raiders bring back two starters and nine letterwinners for 15-year head coach Suzy Venet.

Topping the list of returners is senior guard Tori Rappach (Warren / Howland) who started 25 games a year ago averaged 12.2 points per game and led the nation in three-pointers made per game (3.65) on her way to All-OAC honorable mention honors.

Mount Union opens the season with a non-conference game at Ohio Wesleyan on November 12. The Raiders home schedule opens hosting the M-Club Tournament November 22-23.
