Women's Basketball: Raiders Hit Century Mark for Second Time

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Mount Union women's basketball team never trailed in a 100-75 win over Muskingum in an Ohio Athletic Conference match-up Wednesday evening at the Performance Court. 

The Purple Raiders (11-9, 5-8 OAC) had 14 different players on the board but juniors Elena Rauhe (Seven Hills / Padua Franciscan) and Brianna Gassman (Minerva) led the Mount Union offense with 19 and 13 points respectively. 

Pacing the Muskies (3-15, 1-12 OAC) was Camay Baylock with 24 points and 10 rebounds. 

Mount Union opened the game with an 18-4 lead in the opening five minutes but a 5-0 run by the Muskies cut the lead to nine. The Raiders ended the quarter with back-to-back triples from Rauhe and freshman Anika Sweeney (Sylvania / Sylvania Northview) for a 6-2 run to hold on to the lead, 24-11. 

The Raiders extended their lead in the second quarter out-scoring Muskingum 25-18 over the 10 minute period to take a 49-29 advantage into halftime. 

Mount Union's defense held the Muskies to just five points for the first seven minutes of the third quarter and led 70-45 heading into the fourth quarter. The Raiders took their largest lead of the game, 92-56, on a Madison Luthy (Medina) three-pointer with 5:40 remaining.

Mount Union continues OAC play Saturday Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. traveling to Westerville to take on Otterbein.
