Snode Stands Out in Leading Raiders to Phipps Title

CANTON, Ohio -- Mount Union women's golfer Mary Snode (Alliance/Marlington) ran away from the field, beating the next-best performers by 10 strokes, and led the Purple Raiders to the Phipps Memorial championship at the par-72 Brookside Country Club on Monday.

Snode shot a four-over 76 to earn medalist honors for the Raiders. Teammate Meghan McInnes (Massillon/Massillon Jackson) tied for second with an 86

Also scoring for Mount Union, Megan Zenobi (Novelty/West Geauga) carded an 87 for fith place and Kelly Slutz (Orrville/Smithville) tied for sixth with a 91.

As a team, the Purple Raiders had a score of 340, which bested Malone by 50 strokes.

Mount Union's women will not play again until the spring. They are scheduled to return to action on March 7 at the Pinehurst Invitational in Pinehurst, N.C.
