ANGOLA, Ind.—Mount Union senior Mary Snode (Alliance/Marlington) shot a 305 (79-75-77-74) to finish fifth at the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships at Zollner Golf Course on the campus of Trine University in Angola, Indiana.
Snode entered Friday's final round tied for ninth and six strokes off the lead, but surged up the leaderboard behind her best round of the tournament. She finished the round with two birdies and a score of 74 (+2), which was the second-lowest of the day among competitors in contention for the individual title.
After a tough opening round (79) that put her in a tie for 26th place, Snode had the fourth-best second round with a 75 to move into the top ten at a tie for ninth place. She bogeyed five of the first seven holes to start Thursday's third round, but was even over the final 11 holes for a 77 to stay in a tie for ninth.
Snode finished second among competitors who qualified as individuals.
Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Catherine Wagner won Medalist honors with a 302 (78-71-76-77). A trio of golfers finished one stroke behind Wagner in a tie for second place.
