AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union women's golf coach Dan MacDuffie has been named 2016 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Coach of the Year.

It is the second straight year and third time in his 10 years as head women's golf coach that MacDuffie has won the award.

He helped lead the Purple Raiders to a wire-to-wire first place finish at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships for the program's second ever conference title.  Mount Union freshman Erica Mawhorr (Zanesville/West Muskingum) became the third Raider in history to win the individual medalist honor and the team will make its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance next week in Houston, Texas.

MacDuffie has also led to Raiders to a pair of second and a pair of third place finishes over his years at Mount Union.

He also just finished his 11th season as Mount Union's men's golf coach where he has won three OAC championships and has been a two-time OAC Men's Golf Coach of the Year.

A native of Portland, Maine, MacDuffie earned his bachelor's degree in sport management from Massachusetts in 2000 and a master's degree in history from Washington (Md.) College in 2002. Before coming to Mount Union, MacDuffie was an assistant men's basketball coach and admissions counselor at Hiram College from 2003-04.

MacDuffie, who also spent five seasons as an assistant men's basketball coach at Mount Union, resides in Alliance.
