Women's Golf: Raiders Post Best 18- Hole Round in Five Years; Mount Union 16th After Day Three of NCAA Tournament

HOUSTON, Texas -- Mount Union remains in 16th place after the third day of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships Thursday at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. 

The Purple Raiders shot a 329 in round three which is their lowest score over an 18-hole round in five years. The last time the Raiders were better than a 329 was a 318 on October 8, 2011 at Tannenhauf Golf Course. Mount Union is only six strokes behind 15th ranked Hanover.

Rhodes College leads the 21-team field with an overall score of 904.

Mount Union was led by sophomore Olivia DeMartino (Canfield/Canfield) who shot a career low of 79 for the second time in the tournament. She has an overall score of 245 tying her for 57th place.

Freshman Jackie Capuano (Massillon/Massillon Jackson) shot an 88 which is only two strokes behind her best round this season, an 86.

University of Redlands Caroline Ordian takes the lead of the individual portion of the tournament with a 75 in the third round and an overall score of 218.

Mount Union has the final round of the four-round event Friday morning.
