ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's golf team will play in the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship May 9-12 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.

A total of 22 teams and six individuals will participate in the tournament.

Eighteen conferences have been granted automatic qualification and the remaining four teams were selected on an at-large basis from conferences and the remaining independent institutions. Six individuals, not from selected teams, also were selected for the championships.

The championships will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. Following 54 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top six (6) individuals not on one of those teams to compete the final day. In the team competition, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team's total score.

The Purple Raiders won the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship this year for the second consecutive time, which earned them an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Mount Union carded a third round team score of 334 and a final score of 1,015 which was 15 strokes ahead of second place team Otterbein.

Sophomore Erica Mawhorr (Zanesville/West Muskingum) and senior Morgan Rector (Trafford, Pa./Penn Trafford) each tied for second place as Rector shot an 82 and Mawhorr shot an 86 on the final day. They each carded a 251 as an overall score.

Mawhorr and Rector both earn All-OAC honors as well as two other Raiders; Olivia DeMartino (Canfield/Canfield) and Allison Pastor (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia).
