Women's Golf: Raiders 12th After First Day of NCAA Championships

HOUSTON, Texas -- Mount Union is in 12th place after the first day of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships Tuesday at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. 

The Purple Raiders carded a 331, their fourth best 18-hole round of the season, which placed them seven strokes behind 11th place team Sewanee.

Rhodes College leads the 22-team field with a score of 301.

Mount Union was led by sophomore Erica Mawhorr (Zanesville/West Muskingum) who shot a 76, her lowest round of her career and season, as she is tied for 10th place overall.

Williams College, Phoebe Mattana, leads the individual portion of the tournament as she fired a three-under par 69.

Mount Union plays the second of the four-round event Wednesday afternoon.
