Women's Golf: Mount Union Remains in 20th After Day Two of the NCAA Championships

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- Mount Union's women's golf team remained in 20th place after day two of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships Wednesday at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.

The Purple Raiders carded a 368 on Wednesday after a 367 on Tuesday to total 735 which is 16 shots ahead of 21st place Gettysburg (Pa.) and 11 shots behind 19th place Wartburg (Iowa). 

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) leads the 25 team field with a two-day total of 628 (311-317).

Mount Union was once again led by sophomore Morgan Stubbendieck (Akron/Hoban) who had an 89 today along with an 88 in round one for a 36-hole total of 177. She is the only Raider with back-to-back rounds in the 80's and now has four straight rounds under 90 dating back to the second round of the OAC Championships.

Senior Olivia DeMartino (Canfield) is right behind Stubendieck as she posted a 91 today along with a 90 for a 181 while fellow senior Allison Pastor (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) followed a 94 yesterday with a 93 today for a 187.  

Sophomore Rachel Markle (Solon) finished off the team score with a 95 for the second day in a row (190).

Freshman Emma Jeffries (Wooster) had a 101 today and has a two-day total of 203. 

Mount Union plays 18 holes Thursday and will need to be among the top 15 teams to play in Friday's final round.
