ALLIANCE, Ohio - The No. 18 ranked Mount Union women's lacrosse team rolled to an 18-0 win over Albion (Mich.) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday at Mount Union Stadium in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders (19-0) were led by Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina) who scored five goals and added three assists while Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) scored four goals in the win.
Nikki Bonaduce (Kennett Square, Pa/Unionville) returned in goal for Mount Union after missing 11 games to earn the win in shutout fashion.
Albion (15-3) took only six shots compared to Mount Union's 32 shots. Victoria Della Pia made 10 saves in goal for the Britons.
The Raiders got on the board early as Emily Bergert (North Canton/Hoover) scored within the first minute of the game. Mount Union closed the first half with six goals in the final 10 minutes to lead 12-0 at the half.
Again, the Raiders started the second half with a goal within the first minute as Doraty scored her fourth goal of the game. Mount Union added five more goals in the second half to make the final score 18-0.
Mount Union next plays No. 15 ranked Catholic (D.C.) Saturday, May 16 in the third round (16 teams left) at a time and place to be determined.
