Women's Lacrosse: #17 Mount Union Falls to #18 St. John Fisher

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico—The No. 17 ranked Mount Union women's lacrosse team fell to nationally ranked No. 18 St. John Fisher, 14-5 in Puerto Rico.

The Purple Raiders (1-1) were led by Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn./ Champlin Park) who scored two goals for Mount Union. She was one of four Raiders to score in the effort. Susie Kraus (Sewickley, Pa. / Quaker Valley) contributed one assist.

St. John Fisher (2-0) was led by Sierra Badger with four goals while six other players scored as well.

In the first half of play, St. John Fisher led 2-0 early before McNamara put Mount Union on the board with a goal at the 18:55 mark.  The Cardinals then scored six unanswered goals to lead 8-1 at the half.

St. John Fisher continued to extend its lead to begin the second half off a goal by Jordan Johnson within the first three minutes of play. McNamara's goal with 21:51 remaining in the half stopped the run of nine straight goals for the Cardinals. Alex Camp (Walworth N.Y./ Wayne Central), Taylor Pensyl (Kent/ Kent Roosevelt), and Katherine Doraty (Medina/Medina) all scored in the second half for the Raiders. A goal by Morgan Young with 6:31 sealed the victory for St. John Fisher.

Mount Union is back in action on March 6th as they travel to Carlisle, Pa. to compete against Dickinson. The game is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
