Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Earn Back-to-Back Shutouts with Win at Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- A 21-0 win by the Mount Union women's lacrosse team over Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Wilmington College Saturday afternoon is the second time the Purple Raiders have recorded back-to-back shutouts in team history. 

The Raiders defeated Olivet (Mich.) 23-0 in its previous game to earn its first shutout of the 2017 season. Mount Union has recorded back-to-back shutouts only one other time in program history, dating back to its 2012-13 inaugural season after beating Franciscan (21-0) and Hiram (17-0). 

Mount Union's improves to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play, while Wilmington falls to 1-6 and 0-1.

The Raiders were led by sophomore McKenna Tubbs (Stow/Stow) and Ashley Bernardi (Medina/Medina), who recorded four goals each. 

Junior Katie Elder (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park) and freshman Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md./Sherwood) each found the back of Wilmington's net three times in the first half to notch six of the Raiders 16 points. Bernardi recorded three goals, while Tubbs added two. 

Mount Union outscored Wilmington 5-0 in the second half, with Tubbs scoring twice and three separate Raiders owning the other three goals, resulting in a 21-0 final score.

The Purple Raiders host Denison at Mount Union Stadium on Tuesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
