Women's Lacrosse: Gimme Five; Raiders Picked to Win Fifth Straight OAC Title

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union looks to reload to win its fifth straight Ohio Athletic Conference women's lacrosse championship in 2018 as the Purple Raiders were picked first in the OAC Preseason Coaches Poll.

With the return of its top seven scorers from a year ago, Mount Union is literally looks reloading as the Raiders advanced to the NCAA round of 16 a year ago.

The list of returning starters is headlined by sophomore Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood), who is back after a freshman year where she led the Raiders in goals (47), assists (21) and points (68) on her way to All-OAC and all-region honors.

Junior Ashley Bernardi (Medina) also earned all-conference and all-region honors as she had 46 goals and 62 points while the senior duo of Katie Elder (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park) and Britt Klosterman (Centennial, Colo. / Arapahoe) scored 51 and 43 points respectively. Two more starters return who were double digit goal scorers return in sophomore Kenzie Penysl (Kent/Roosevelt) and junior Alyssa Rydell (Medina). Rydell, who also won 35 draw controls, was an all-region selection last year.

The defense has just two returning starters in senior Anna Bauhof (York, Pa. / York Catholic) and junior Megan Ronceray (Long Valley, N.J. / West Morris Central) while the Raiders will have a new goalie. Sophomore Mimi Curtis (Lititz, Pa. / Manheim Township) played in eight games with two starts in goal a year ago.
