Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Score Early and Often in Record Setting Win

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's lacrosse team scored early and often with a record setting 31-0 win over Chatham (Pa.) Wednesday at Mount Union Stadium.

Ashley Bernardi (Medina) and Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park) each scored hat tricks in the game's opening 9:30 and the Purple Raiders were off and running as they finished the half matching a school-record with 21 goals and a 21-0 lead.

Bernardi, who set a school single-game record with 11 points, along with McNamara each finished with a game-high six goals as 12 different Raiders scored and the 31 goals are the most in a single-game in the six-year history of the program.

Mimi Curtis (Lititz, Pa. / Manheim Twp.) and Molly McGinnis (Brunswick) combined for the shutout in goal for the Raiders, who are now 4-0 on the season.

Chatham fell to 2-3 with the loss.

Mount Union is back in action Saturday at noon at Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan.
