Women’s Lacrosse: Raiders Open Conference Play With A Shutout Victory

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union women's lacrosse team opened Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 28-0 victory over Wilmington Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders (7-0) were led by sophomore Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) who scored a game-high six goals, all in the first half. In total, 12 different players scored goals to pace the offense. Sophomore Mimi Curtis (Lititz, Pa. / Manheim Twp.) and freshmen Molly McGinnis (Brunswick / Brunswick) combined in goal for the shutout win.

Goalie Megan Wieloch led the Fightin' Quakers (2-6) with 10 saves.  

Mount Union took the lead just 13 seconds into the first half with a goal by senior Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park). The Raiders continued to score at a quick pace, as they led 10-0 to start the running clock with 18:52 remaining in the half.

Mount Union closed out the half with eight more goals – two goals each from Katie Elder (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park), Britt Klosterman (Centennial, Colo. / Arapahoe) and Rohrman – to take a 18-0 halftime lead over the Quakers.

The Raiders scored 10 goals in the second half, three by freshmen Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif. / Newbury Park). 

Mount Union next plays at Oberlin, Wednesday March 28 at 6:00 p.m. in Oberlin, Ohio.
