Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Turnover Oberlin To Move To 8-0

OBERLIN, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's lacrosse team used its defense to generate offense as the Purple Raiders forced 36 Oberlin turnovers in a 13-7 win Wednesday night at Knowlton Stadium.

Katie Elder (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park) had two goals and three assists for a game-high five points and Ashley Bernardi (Medina) had three goals and an assist to lead the Raiders, that are now 8-0 on the season.

Eliza Amber had four goals to pace Oberlin (4-3).

Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) started the scoring for Mount Union with a free position goal then assisted on a man-down goal from Bernardi that gave the Raiders a 2-0 lead at the 14:24 mark of the first half. Oberlin cut the deficit in half with a goal at 13:32 before Mount Union finished the half with three straight goals to lead 5-1 at the break.

Oberlin cut the lead to 5-3 with a pair of goals in the first three minutes of the second half then Elder assisted on three-straight Mount Union goals from Bernardi, Kenzie Pensyl (Kent / Roosevelt) and Alyssa Rydell (Medina) to make the score 8-3 with 23:36 to play.

Oberlin rallied with three of next four goals over the next seven minutes to trim the advantage to 9-6 with just under 17 minutes left. Elder notched her second goal of the game four minutes later and it sparked a 4-1 run by the Raiders to finish the game.

Mount Union returns home and back to Ohio Athletic Conference play hosting Ohio Northern Friday, March 30 at 1 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
