Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Ice Polar Bear Offense in Dominating Home Victory

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's lacrosse team displayed a commanding offense and defense performance in a 25-2 Ohio Athletic Conference victory over Ohio Northern Saturday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium.  

Ashley Bernardi (Medina) had seven goals and two assists for a game-high nine points and sophomore Kenzie Pensyl (Kent / Roosevelt) had four goals and three assists for a career-high seven points to lead the Purple Raiders, who are now 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.

Jacqui Lohman led the Polar Bears (3-5, 0-1) with two goals.

A goal by Katie Elder (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park) put the Raiders on the board first just 33 seconds into the contest. Mount Union scored five additional unanswered goals – three by Bernardi and two by Danielle Rohrman (Onley, Md. / Sherwood) – to take a 6-0 lead just seven minutes into the half.

Northern scored a goal to reduce the deficit to five but the Raiders answered back with 11 consecutive goals – four by Bernardi, four by Pensyl, three by Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park) to close out the half with a 17-1 lead.

Mount Union outscored Northern 8-1 in the second half. Six different players scored goals for the Raiders in the half including sophomore Sammie Lindsay (Great Mills, Md. / Great Mills) who scored her first career goal.

Mount Union next plays John Carroll in an OAC matchup Wednesday, April 4 at 7 p.m. in University Heights, Ohio.
