Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Knock Off BW to Advance to OAC Finals For Fifth Straight Year

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Top-seeded Mount Union knocked off No. 4 seed Baldwin Wallace 21-7 in the semifinals of the 2018 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament Wednesday at Mount Union Stadium.

Ashley Bernardi (Medina) scored a game-high seven goals, Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) had five goals with two assists while Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif.) netted a hat trick to lead Mount Union.

The Purple Raiders move to 15-0 overall and advance to the title game for the fifth straight season. Mount Union started its program in 2013, the OAC began sponsoring the sport in 2014 and the Purple Raiders have won all five regular season titles and the previous four OAC Tournament titles.

Mount Union will host No. 3 seed Capital, a 12-11 winner over No. 2 seed John Carroll, in the title game Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.

Mount Union ran out to a 5-0 lead in the game's opening seven minutes on scores from Bernardi, Rohrman, Marjie McNamara (Champlin, Minn. / Champlin Park) and two from Bumbarger.

Baldwin Wallace (7-10) then outscored the Raiders, 4-3 over the next 10 minutes and Mount Union held an 8-4 lead with 12:53 to play in the first half.

Bernardi scored two more as Mount Union went on a 5-0 run to push the lead to 13-4. Christina Roskoph then broke the run with a score for BW but the Raiders finished the half with two more scores and led 15-5 at the break.

Mount Union opened the second half with its final five-goal run to extend its advantage to 20-5 before BW scored two of final three goals for the 21-7 final.
