Women's Lacrosse: Rohrman Scores Seven But Raiders Take First Loss

LOUISVILLE, Ohio – Mount Union women's lacrosse team posted a rally but fell short in an 11-9 loss to Illinois Wesleyan Saturday at the University of Louisville.

Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) matched her career-high with seven goals while Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif.) had the other two goals for the Purple Raiders, who are now 1-1 on the season.

Grainne Kelly had three goals, two in the final four minutes, to lead Illinois Wesleyan (1-0).

Illinois Wesleyan led 5-2 at the half and took a 6-2 lead early in the second half before goals by Rohrman and Bumbarger made it 6-4 with just over 23 minutes to go.

Two more Illinois Wesleyan goals pushed the lead to 8-4 before Rohrman scored four goals over an 11 minute span to tie the game at 8-8 with 7:18 left.

Three unanswered Illinois Wesleyan goals put the game away before a goal by Bumbarger with under two minutes to play for the 11-9 final.

Mount Union next hosts Fredonia State (N.Y.) in the home opener Saturday, Feb. 23 at noon at Mount Union Stadium.
