ALLIANCE, Ohio – Mount Union's women's lacrosse team defeated local opponent Walsh 14-8 Wednesday night at Mount Union Stadium.
Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) had four goals and two assists in the first half as she finished with a game-high five goals and three assists to lead the Purple Raiders.
Mount Union (7-1 overall) also got three goals and three assists from Ashley Bernardi (Medina) and three goals and two assists from Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif) while Mimi Curtis (Lititz, Pa. / Manheim Township) had 11 saves in goal.
Hannah McFeeters scored three goals for Walsh (7-2).
Becky Parker stopped the Raiders scoring run and put Walsh on the board at the 12:45 mark.
Rohrman tallied two more scores in a two-minute span to give Mount Union a 9-1 lead with 8:53 left in the period.
Walsh got another score from Kendra Cowen-Tripp and the Raiders led 9-2 at the break.
Bumbarger gave Mount Union another goal three minutes into the second half that pushed the lead to 10-2.
Walsh then scored three of the next five goals over the next 10 minutes to close to gap to 12-5. The two Mount Union goals during the stretch came from Rohrman and Duke.
Bumbarger had her third of the game to put the Raiders but Cowen-Tripp scored a man-up goal for Walsh and the Cavaliers got another score from McFeeters to make it 13-7 with 10:43 to play.
Both teams traded goals as Bernardi scored for the Raiders and McFeeters for Walsh for the 14-8 final.
Mount Union returns to Ohio Athletic Conference action on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ohio Northern in Ada.
