Women's Lacrosse: Raiders Stop Streaks to Push Win Streak to 10

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Mount Union women's lacrosse team notched its 10th win in a row with a 17-10 victory at John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday at Don Shula Stadium.

Mimi Curtis (Lititz, Pa. / Manheim Township) had a season-high 18 saves in goal to lead the Purple Raiders, who are now 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the OAC.

Mount Union's offense was led by Ashley Bernardi (Medina), who had five goals and three assists, Alyssa Rydell (Medina) tallied four goals and Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) had three goals and two assists .

Alex Heishman had five goals for John Carroll (7-5, 2-3 OAC).

Rohrman scored her first goal 3:38 into the game to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead and John Carroll tied the game with a score just under two minutes later to tie the game and a minute later took a 2-1 lead. Mount Union then scored eight of the next 10 scores with two coming from Rohrman and two from Ashley Bernardi (Medina) and the Raiders led 10-4 at the half.

Bernardi scored two more times on a 4-1 Mount Union run to open the second half and push the lead to 14-5 with 20:53 remaining. John Carroll scored two more times to close the gap to 14-7. Rydell and McKenna Tubbs (Stow / Stow-Munroe Falls) both scored to put Mount Union back up nine, 16-7. John Carroll then scored three-straight before Bernardi finished things off with her fifth of the game.

The Raiders return home to host Heidelberg in an OAC matchup Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mount Union. The senior class will be honored prior to the start of the contest.
