BEREA, Ohio – Mount Union's women's lacrosse team won its 13th straight game with a 15-4 win at Baldwin Wallace Wednesday night at Finnie Stadium.
The Purple Raiders, 14-1 overall and 7-0 in the OAC host Capital (10-4, 7-0 OAC) Saturday at 1 p.m. in a winner-take-all game for the Ohio Athletic Conference title.
Ashley Bernardi (Medina) had five goals with an assist and Mimi Curtis (Lancaster, Pa. / Manheim Township) had seven saves to lead Mount Union, which has npw won 13 games in a row to go 14-1 overall and 7-0 in the OAC.
Megan Patrick had two goals to pace Baldwin Wallace (8-6, 5-2 OAC).
Rydell scored three times and Bernardi once in the game's first nine minutes to get the Raiders out to a 4-0 lead. BW scored with 21:01 left in the half before Mount Union tacked on goals from Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) and Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calif.) to make it 6-1. BW scored again at the 7:15 mark then Bernardi and Kenzie Pensyl (Kent / Roosevelt) scored to give Mount Union an 8-2 halftime lead.
The Raiders tacked on three more goals – two from Bernardi and one from Bumbarger – to push the lead to 11-2 with 18:44 to go. BW scored just over two minutes later to bring the score to 11-3. Mount Union added three more scores – one each from Kaitlyn Murphy (Lexington, Va. / Rockbridge County), Pensyl and Rohrman – as it was 14-3 with 11:50 to play. Both teams traded goals for the 15-4 final.
