Women's Lacrosse: Mount Union Marches on to OAC Title Game

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Top seeded Mount Union defeated No. 4 seed John Carroll, 19-6 in the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women Lacrosse Tournament Wednesday night at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders (16-1) have now won 15-straight games and advance to the championship game for the sixth straight year. It is also the sixth straight time Mount Union will host the game, which will be Saturday at 7 p.m. against No. 2 seed Capital, a 16-12 winner over No. 3 seed Baldwin Wallace.

Danielle Rohrman (Olney, Md. / Sherwood) had seven goals and three assists, Ashley Bernardi (Medina) had four goals and four assists and Alyssa Rydell (Medina) scored four goals with an assist to lead Mount Union.

Brooke McQuinn and Alex Heishman each had two goals for John Carroll (10-7)

Mount Union ran out to a 6-1 lead in the game's first nine minutes with three of those scores by Rohrman. John Carroll scored two of the next three goals with the Raider score from Kenzie Pensyl (Kent / Roosevelt) to make it 7-3. The Raiders then finished the half scoring five straight on goals from Rydell, two from Bernardi, Sydney Bumbarger (Newbury Park, Calf.) and Rohrman to lead 12-3 at the break.

Rohrman tallied two more and Bernardi and Rydell each scored to open the second half on a 4-0 run to push the lead to 16-3 with 22:48 to play. John Carroll attempted a comeback scoring three of the next four goals to cut the lead to 17-6 with 7:14 left but Rohrman and Bernardi each put another goal on the board for the 19-6 final.
