Wrestling's Bill Schindel Named to Capital One Academic All-District IV At-Large Second Team
DELAWARE, Ohio -- Mount Union senior wrestler Bill Schindel (Tallmadge/Akron Hoban) was named to the Capital One Academic All-District IV At-Large Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Schindel is a senior three-time OAC Champion and three-time All-American at 197 pounds whose 83 wins is the sixth-best total in Mount Union history. It is the second straight year he was an Academic All-OAC selection and he recently graduated with a degree in health and physical education with a 3.45 grade point average. Also he was selected as the OAC's Clyde Lamb winner as the top male student-athlete at Mount Union.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average. Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national Academic All-American ballot.
Sports Information Directors within a district vote for the Academic All-District teams with members of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee voting on the national ballot. District IV includes every NCAA Division II, III and NAIA institution in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.
