Jenkins and Shadrach Earn Academic All-OAC Honors
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio—Mount Union senior wrestlers Andy Jenkins (Stow/Woodridge) and Kevin Shadrach (Parma/Parma) were named to the Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference At-Large Team by the conference's 10 faculty athletics representatives.
It is the second straight year each has been named for the award.
Jenkins was a two-time OAC champ at 184 pounds and competed in each of the last two NCAA Championships. He was a three-time All-OAC selection and three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American. His 84 career wins is the eighth-best total in Mount Union history. Off the mat, he graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice with a 3.74 grade point average and was also a member of the Mount Union Army ROTC program.
Shadrach the Ohio Athletic Conference title at 149 pounds and competed at the NCAA Championships this past season. His 36 wins this season is the fourth highest single-season total in school history and his 81 all-time wins at Mount Union is good for 11th on the school's all-time list. He was a two-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC selection that was also a two-time National Wrestling Coaches Associaiton Scholar All-American. He graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education with a 3.85 grade point average.
To be named Academic All-OAC, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
