Mount Union Names John Piechuta Assistant Wrestling Coach
ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The University of Mount Union has named John Piechuta assistant wrestling coach.
Piechuta is familiar with the Purple Raiders after completing his career on the mat at Mount Union in 2012. A three-year letterwinner, he compiled a 51-48 career record competing at 165 lbs. In his senior season, Piechuta placed third at the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships and helped the Raiders capture their second straight OAC title.
"It is a thrill for me to work at my alma mater and in my hometown," commented Piechuta. "This program has given me so much over the years and I look forward to an opportunity to continue to grow the success of this program."
He spent six years coaching in the wrestling program at his high school alma mater, Marlington High School, as he assisted with the youth wrestling program from 2005-08 and was the freestyle club coach from 2009-11.
The Alliance, Ohio, native graduated from Mount Union with a bachelor's degree in cognitive and behavioral neuroscience.
