PREVIEW: No. 30 Ranked Wrestling To Host Niagara County C.C. (NY) And Purple Raiders Open
No. 30 ranked Mount Union's wrestling team hosts Niagara County C.C. (NY) for a dual matchup Saturday January 19th at 7:00 p.m. and the Purple Raider Open Sunday January 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex on campus.
The Purple Raiders (4-2, 1-0 OAC) are coming off beating John Carroll, 31-7, at home in the first OAC Dual of the year.
The Purple Raiders won six of the eight contested matchups.
Senior Nick Terifaj (Brook Park/Strongsville) at 285 won his matchup by a major decision 13-0 while the Raiders got five other decisions from freshman Jeremy Border (Caldwell/Caldwell) at 133, 8-1 decision, sophomore Bryant Roby (Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph) at 141, 9-3 decision, sophomore Jon Garrison (Fairlawn/Copley) at 157, 7-6 decision, sophomore Brent Kirk (Adena/Buckeye Local) at 174,3-1 decision and senior Jeremy Hathaway (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) at 184 won in an overtime match by decision 5-1.
Niagara County C.C. comes into this match with a 4-0 record.
Mount Union goes on the road to take on Baldwin Wallace in an OAC Dual on Tuesday January 22nd at 7:30 pm in Berea, Ohio.
