PREVIEW: No. 30 Wrestling Travels To Ohio Northern For Dual Tuesday

No. 30 ranked Mount Union's wrestling team looks to stay perfect in the Ohio Athletic Conference as they travel to Ohio Northern to compete in an OAC Dual Tuesday, January 29th at 7:30 pm in Ada, Ohio.

The Purple Raiders (6-2, 2-0 OAC) are coming off a win against Baldwin Wallace in a dual last Tuesday (Jan. 22), 38-4.

The Raiders won eight out of nine contested matches highlighted by two pins that came from sophomore Jon Garrison (Fairlawn/Copley) who pinned Garrett Chase 4:54 and junior Nick Rajcsak (Stow/Stow) who pinned Wesley King 6:35.

Mount Union gathered two major decision victories from junior Tyler Johnston (Lyndhurst/brush) who won over Joey Schmidt, 8-0 and senior Jeremy Hathaway (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) who won over Brian Fox, 12-3.

The Raiders got four decisions from sophomore Bryant Roby (Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph) at 141, senior Jeremy Regula (Dundee/Claymont) at 165, sophomore Brent Kirk (Adena/Buckeye Local) at 174 and senior Nick Terifaj (Brook Park/Strongsville) at 285.

No. 18 ranked Ohio Northern (13-2, 2-0 OAC) comes into this match coming off competing in the Alma (Mich.) open Saturday (Jan. 26) and a win at John Carroll last Tuesday (Jan. 22) 42-4 in University Heights, Ohio.  The Polar Bears senior #1 Kyle Kwait won by tech fall (17-0) at 174, senior Kyle Raber won with a pin (1:08) at 184 and junior Michael Pawlitz won by pin (:52) at 197-pounds.

Mount Union goes on the road to compete in the Wheaton Pete Willson Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 1) and Sunday (Feb. 2) in Wheaton, Illinois.
