Wrestling Preview: # 29 Wrestling To Host Muskingum In Last Regular Season Action For OAC Dual
No. 29 ranked Mount Union's wrestling team hosts Muskingum in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual Tuesday, February 12th at 7:30 pm at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
The Purple Raiders (7-3, 3-1 OAC) are coming a 24-15 win over Heidelberg last Tuesday, February 5th at the MAAC.
Mount Union won five of ten contested matches highlighted by a pin by junior Tyler Johnston (Lyndhurst/Brush) as he pinned Heidelberg senior Andrew Johnson, 5:43. The Raiders grabbed three major decisions from freshman Jeremy Border (Caldwell/Caldwell) at 133, sophomore Bryant Roby (Westchester, Ill./St. Joseph) at 141 and sophomore Jon Garrison (Fairlawn/Copley) at 157. Senior Jeremy Regula (Dundee/Claymont) rounded out the winning matches for the Raiders as he won by disqualification over Damon Cheek at 165-pounds.
Muskingum (0-13, 0-4 OAC) are entering Tuesday's dual after a 31-15 loss to John Carroll University. The Fighting Muskies won two of the seven contested matches. Freshman Skyler Caldwell won by pin over John Connick (John Carroll) 2:40 as senior Mitchell King won by decision over Danny McNamara (John Carroll) 4-2. The Muskies picked up a forfeit to round out their points.
Mount Union next travels to Ada, Ohio for the NCAA Regionals on March 2nd.
