Garrison Falls Short at Championships

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Mount Union sophomore Jon Garrison (Fairlawn/Copley) competed at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Friday, March 15th.

Garrison reached the Wrestling Championships by placing second in the Mideast Regionals on March 2nd. Being the lone representitive for the Purple Raiders, he entered the tournament with an overall record of 20-9.

Garrison lost his first match up to number one ranked Elias Larson (Trine) as Larson pinned him at 5:23 into the match.

Garrison then wrestled against Reece Lefever (Wabash) to try to fight his way back into the competition. Lefever won by decision over Garrison 11-5, with the second loss Garrison was knocked out of the tournament.

Garrison finished the 2012-13 camping with an overall record of 20-11.

The Championships continue for day two tomorrow Saturday, March 16th in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
