Wrestling: Mount Union Wraps Up Regular Season Tuesday at John Carroll

Mount Union's wrestling team finishes the regular season with an Ohio Athletic Conference dual at John Carroll Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in University Heights.

There will be a Live Video feed of the match.

The Purple Raiders (12-8 overall, 3-1 OAC) need a win in this match and a loss by Baldwin Wallace to Heidelberg to clinch a share of the conference title.

Mount Union has won six of its last seven duals including an 18-15 win at Heidelberg last week.

Senior Jeremy Border (Caldwell/Caldwell) has a 24-4 overall record and is ranked No. 10 in the nation at 141 pounds for the Purple Raiders.  Border, an All-American in 2014, has eight major decisions, five pins and four tech falls this season and has a career record of 98-21.

Two other Mount Union wrestlers have 20 plus wins this season in sophomore Alec Cotton (Hartville/Lake) with 21 wins at 133 pounds and junior Nick Miller (Mansfield/Ontario) with 20 wins at 174 pounds.

John Carroll is 5-5 overall and at 3-1 in the OAC can also have a possibility at the conference title with a win.

Dan Mirman is ranked No. 2 in the nation at 149 pounds and is 18-2 overall on the season.

Mark Hawald is in his first year as head coach of the Blue Streaks.  Hawald spent five seasons (2007-12) as head coach at Mount Union with a 42-26 dual meet record.  This is the first time he has coached against the Raiders in a dual.

Mount Union will next compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional Feb. 27-28 at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa.  The top three finishers in each weight class advance to the NCAA Wrestling Championships March 11-12 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
