Mount Union's Alec Cotton Named OAC Wrestler of the Year; Mancini All-OAC First Team

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union junior Alec Cotton (Hartville/Lake) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Year by the conference's head coaches. He is joined on the All-OAC First Team by fellow junior Nick Mancini (Boardman/Boardman).

Cotton has a 26-4 record this season and went 5-0 in the OAC this season at 141 pounds with 11 pins, four major decisions and three technical falls. He is also ranked No. 4 nation in the weight class, finished second at the NCAA Mideast Regional and will wrestle at the NCAA Division III Championships March 10-11 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Cotton is the seventh Purple Raider to ever be named OAC Wrestler of the Year and the first since Sean Connelly in 2006.

Mancini, who is on the All-OAC First Team for a second straight year, went 18-9 overall, 5-1 in the OAC this season at 125 pounds with seven technical falls, four major decisions and three pins. He placed fifth at the NCAA Mideast Regional.
