Mount Union's Alec Cotton to Compete at NCAA Wrestling Championships

Mount Union junior Alec Cotton (Hartville/Lake) will compete Friday and Saturday at the 2017 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

The two-day event is a double-elimination tournament includes 180 wrestlers (18 per weight class) with the top eight finishers earning All-American honors.

Cotton is the No. 8 seed at 141 pounds and will take on Joseph Ferinde of Johnson & Wales (R.I.) in his first match.

Cotton was named Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Year, has a 26-4 overall record and finished second in the NCAA Mideast Regional to qualify for the national meet.

The top eight finishers at the NCAA Championships earn All-American honors.
