Wrestling: Jesse Gross Named D3Wrestle.com National Wrestler of the Week

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Mount Union senior Jesse Gross (Norwalk/St. Paul) has been named D3Wrestle.com National Wrestler of the Week.

It is the second straight week of honors for Gross as he was named Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week on November 13.

Gross kicked off the 2017-18 season by going 4-0 at the Mount Union Invitational and was named Most Outstanding Wrestler for his performace where he won first place at 165 pounds as he took down two of Division II's top wrestlers: No. 7 ranked Nick Vandermeer of Lake Erie College and No. 10 ranked Nate Ross of Gannon (Pa.) both by decision with scores of 9-7 and 3-2, respectively.

At the Mount Union Duals, Gross went undefeated once again as he helped No. 22 Mount Union defeat all five of its opponents, two of which were nationally ranked in No. 6 Messiah (Pa.) and No. 24 Waynesburg (Pa.).

Gross had two more huge victories against nationally ranked wrestlers in weight class beating No. 3 ranked Nicholas Racanelli of Wilkes (Pa.) 4-1 and a 10-6 win over No. 6 ranked Jeff Hojnacki of Messiah (Pa.) 

Gross and the rest of the Purple Raiders are next in action at Otterbein in an OAC dual Tuesday, November 28th at 7:30 p.m. in Westerville.
