MECHANICSBURG, Pa. - The Mount Union wrestling team is in second place out of 15 teams after the first day of competition at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah College. 

The Purple Raiders have 17 wrestlers remaining in the invitational, seven of which are in their respective championship brackets: Nick Mancini (Boardman/Boardman) at 125, Alec Cotton (Hartville/Lake) at 141, Luke Hernandez (Nashport/Tri-Valley) at 149, Austin Rush (Troy/Miami East) and Michael McIntire (Wadsworth/St. Vincent-St. Mary) at 157, Jesse Gross (Norwalk/St. Paul) at 165 and Isaiah Watson-Kirksey (Alliance/Alliance) at 184.

With 109.5 points, the Raiders sit behind first-place host No. 6 Messiah with 121.5 points. No. 24 Waynesburg trails Mount Union in third with 89 points.

Mount Union looks to continue their success on the mat as the invitational will resume Saturday, December 2 at 9:00 am. Live results can be found here.
