Wrestling: Mount Union Takes Second at Wheaton; Eight Wrestlers Place

WHEATON, Ill. - Mount Union's wrestling team took second place at the 2018 Pete Willson Invitational at Wheaton College. The Purple Raiders accumlated 130.5 total points, putting them just behind No. 10 Messiah (Pa.) with 137 points. Behind the Raiders in third place was No. 8 Wisconsin-Whitewater with 120.5 points.

With eight placers, Mount Union had a first-place finish in Jairod James (Bedford/Bedford) at 174 pounds as he defeated No. 2 ranked Ben Swarr from Messiah by decision 9-4. Swarr was last year's Wheaton Invitational Champion and a two-time NCAA Division III finalist, winning the 2016 NCAA national title.

Mount Union will return to the McPhearson Academic and Athletic Complex for their home finale as they host Heidelberg for Alumni Night on Tuesday, January 30th at 7:30 p.m.
