ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Gavin Speelman and Jeff Kullman have both been named assistant wrestling coaches at the University of Mount Union.
Speelman served for the last nine years as the greco-roman wrestling head coach for USA Wrestling-Ohio. He was the youngest national team coach in the history of USA Wreslting-Ohio and had 40 All-Americans over his tenure. He also served as an assistant coach at Mansfield Madison High School where during his time there the program had five state qualifiers and two state placers. He has a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Ohio State and is pursuing a master's degree in Educational Leadership at Mount Union.
Kullman, a member of the Stark County Sports Hall of Fame, spent over 20 years with USA Wrestling-Ohio as a team director for freestyle and greco-roman teams. He has coached 31 state qualifiers, 15 state placers and four state champions. He is also a certified personal trainer and fitness nutrition specalist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Mount Union begins practice for the 2018-19 season next week as the Purple Raiders finished 10th in the nation in NCAA Division III a year ago.
