Wrestling: 15 Raiders Still Standing; #6 Mount Union Holds First Place at Messiah Petrofes Invitational

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- The Mount Union wrestling team holds first place out of 15 teams after the first day of competition at the Messiah Petrofes Invitational hosted by Messiah College.

With 122.5 points, the No. 6 ranked Purple Raiders lead second place No. 23 Messiah (Pa.) by 26.5 points and have 15 wrestlers remaining in the invitational.

Of those 15, eight still stand in their respective championship brackets: Seth Hayes (Ravenna/Rootstown) at 125, No. 10 Jordin James (Bedford) at 133, David Massey (Cuyahoga Falls/Woodridge) at 141, Luke Hernandez (Nashport/Tri-Valley) at 149, Antwon Pugh Jr. (Fairlawn/Copley) at 157, Michael McIntire (Wadsworth/St. Vincent-St. Mary) at 165, Rob Valenti (Hilliard/Darby) at 184 and Tyler Stepic (Brook Park/St. Edward) at 197.

Wrestling will continue Saturday morning starting at 9:00 a.m. Live video stream will be provided for Mats 1 and 2 which will include the championship and third-place bouts.
