HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. -- Mount Union senior Jairod James (Bedford) took seventh place at the 56th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships.

On the final day of competition, No. 11 seed James advanced to the placement rounds where he first faced off against the ninth seed Willie Scott (Rutgers). Scott accumulated enough riding time to edge past James, 4-3, sending James to wrestle for seventh and eighth place.

As the first to represent the Purple Raiders at the Midlands tournament, James also became a placer with a seventh place finish over Ben Harvey (Army West Point) via medical forfeit.

James and the rest of the Raiders are back in action at the National Wrestling Coaches Association Duals January 4-5 in Louisville, Ky.
