Wrestling: Raiders 5th Heading Into NWCA National Duals; Four Individuals Ranked

The Mount Union wrestling team is ranked fifth nationally by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Four different Purple Raiders are nationally ranked in their respective weight classes and lead the team into this weekend's competition at the NWCA National Duals in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mount Union received a first round bye with an 8-0 dual meet record and 12-straight dual meet wins dating back to last season. The Raiders will take on the winner of a dual between NYU and Alma (Mich.) while No. 4 Loras (Iowa) along with No. 1 Augsburg (Minn.) are on their half of the bracket. The other side of the bracket is headlined by No. 2 Wartburg (Iowa) and No. 3 Wabash (Ind.).

A year ago, Mount Union finished sixth at the event.

On the individual side, junior Antwon Pugh (Copley) is ranked No. 2 at 157 pounds, junior Luke Hernandez (Nashport / Tri-Valley) is ranked third at 149 pounds, junior Jordin James (Bedford) is fourth at 141 pounds and sophomore David Massey (Cuyahoga Falls / Woodridge) is 10th at 133 pounds.

Pugh is 14-0 on the season and last year's national runner up, Hernandez is a returning All-American, who is 13-2 this season with both losses to NCAA Division I wrestlers, James was the national champ at 133 a year ago and is 14-1 at 141 this season while Massey has a team-best 20 wins this season.
