No. 12 ranked Mount Union will have five student-athletes competing Friday and Saturday at the 2020 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Juniors Jordin James (Bedford) and Antwon Pugh (Copley), seniors Seth Hayes (Rootstown) and Conner Homan (Loveland) along with sophomore David Massey (Cuyahoga Falls / Woodridge) all qualified by finishing in the top three at the NCAA Central Regional and each will compete starting at 12 p.m. (eastern) Friday.

Jordin James, the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Year, makes his second national meet appearance after winning the 141-pound regional title and is No. 2 seed in the national bracket with a 26-2 overall record. A year ago, James won the 133-pound national title and is the third Purple Raider to win a national title.

Antwon Pugh also is in his second national event after placing second in the region at 165 pounds. Pugh did not wrestle at 165 until the NCAA regional meet as he went 16-3 at 157 pounds this season. A year ago, Pugh was an All-American with a second place finish at the NCAA Championships.

Hayes, Homan and Massey make their first trip to nationals after each finished third at the regional in their respective weight classes. Hayes is 17-8 at 125 pounds, Homan is 34-10 at 174 pounds and Massey is an All-OAC second teamer at 133 pounds with a team-best 36 wins.

Mount Union posted its best team finish in program history a year ago with a fifth place finish and was just one point from a top four podium finish. It marked the sixth time in the history of the program with a top-10 national finish. Mount Union had four All-Americans which matched 1994 and 1995 for the most in a single season.

Mount Union head coach Josh Malave, the 2020 OAC Coach of the Year, was a national qualifier on the 2011 Purple Raider team that finished eighth.

A wrestler that places in the top eight is an All-American.
