Mount Union Keeper Maria Favorite Named NSCAA National Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Mount Union junior goalkeeper Maria Favorite (Chesterland/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) the Disney Soccer/National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Women's Player of the Week.

Beginning this season Disney Soccer and the NSCAA recognize one male and one female in each of the three NCAA Divisions as a Player of the Week.

Last week, Favorite posted a pair of road shutouts as the Purple Raiders defeated Marietta 4-0 and Wilmington 1-0 last week to earn Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.

On the season, Favorite has played every minute in goal for the Purple Raiders and has eight shutouts which is two behind the school single-season record of 10 held by Kara Callahan in 1996.

This is the first time a Mount Union soccer player has won a national player of the week award in women's soccer.
